Troll Netflix Movie Ending Explained, What does a troll want in Oslo? How does troll end?

Troll Plot Synopsis

Troll follows a group of misfits as they band together to stop a monstrous creature from wreaking havoc across the country. Deep in the Dovre Mountains, an explosion shakes the surroundings, unleashing a giant behemoth on the countryside and terrifying the locals.

Destroying everything in its path, this creature sets its sights on Oslo and begins a methodical march there. To prevent certain destruction, Paleobiologist Nora Tidemann, Prime Minister's Advisor Andreas Isaksen, and Army Captain Chris must find a solution before it's too late.

Complicating matters is Nora's father, Tobias, who knows more about Trolls and folklore than anyone else in these parts. Only Nora is related to her crazy father, and that could be a sticking point. But can they resolve their differences to solve Norway's wolf problem?

  Does Tobias survive?

Explosions and gunfire have little effect on the behemoth, and it can even smell the blood of individual soldiers. After eating one of the soldiers fighting the group, Tobias stands up and tries to calm the creature down. He looks successful with his arms outstretched.

But another car comes and hits the trawl full of bullets. As he turns and crushes the people inside with a single boot, Tobias slams into the Troll's tail, sending him flying and crashing to the ground.

What does a troll want in Oslo?

After a failed operation involving church bells that resulted in the death and destruction of three helicopters, the Prime Minister appeared on television to try to calm the nation. He evacuates Oslo, declares a state of evacuation, and makes sure that the surrounding areas are completely clear as well. "Take care of each other... and God bless us all and our country." He says.

So as all the residents leave, Nora has a light bulb moment. Believing that there is a clue at the Royal Palace in Oslo, he turns around and returns to Oslo on the way. This explains the "Sinding" written in her father's journal about the man now living inside.

At the Royal Palace, Nora and Andreas are taken deep into the underground tunnels, where Sinding reveals that she and the other officials destroyed Tobias's life to protect their secrets. And this secret turns out to be the skeletal remains of an underground Troll family.

Nothing is more important to trolls than family, and during the Christianization of Norway, the Troll King was lured to Mount Dovre and imprisoned and left for dead. Of course the previous bombers let him go and now he's back in Oslo to try and reunite with his kids.

  How to stop a troll?

When Nora shines her UV rays on the bone, she notices it crackling and has an idea.

Nora commands the Queen's truck and calls Captain Chris to make it happen. As the troll approaches and moves toward the center of town, Sigrid's skills come in handy at headquarters to hack into a military fighter jet's system and stop it from firing missiles at the creature. Sigrid prevents them from doing so by triggering a remote system failure.

When they get outside, they pull out a large tarp from behind to reveal the skull of one of the Troll children found underground.

After accidentally crushing a skull and realizing he has no family left, the troll turns his attention to Nora and Andreas and makes them pay. Sigrid pursues them as she is discovered to have hijacked the system back at headquarters.

Nora almost makes it to safety when the Troll jumps out of the pickup truck as it arrives, preparing to stomp on it and tear it to pieces. They spin one by one, scratching the creature.

 How does  troll end?

As the Troll is stopped frozen in place by the UV lights, Nora suddenly turns off all the lights and asks the Troll to leave. Chris gets all the men to stand up and stop the fire.

There is a moment of calm until the sun suddenly filters through as the sun rises, prompting the Troll to collapse in a heap. Before turning completely to stone, Nora reaches out and gently touches the creature, watching as the eye closes and the danger is averted.

Having previously resolved her issues with her father, Nora decides to call this area Tobias Boulder.

Andreas also quits his job with the Prime Minister, deciding to pursue his dreams of becoming a writer. “Do you think there are more out there? In a cave deep in the mountains?' Andreas asks as Nora smiles and the movie ends.

  Is there a post-credits sequence?

Yes! Stick around as you see whole boulders moving with a rumble in the distance as the film jumps to Mount Dovre. Suddenly, a huge roar sees all the rocks go up into the air... and we black out!
