The second installment from HITverse, HIT 2, directed by Shailesh Kolanu and starring Adivi Sesh, was released today. Let's see how it goes.
Story: Set in the backdrop of Vizag, the film begins with the introduction of a cop named KD (Adivi Sesh) who is known for solving crime cases intelligently. Meanwhile, KD will be assigned the same to find the location of the brutal murder of a girl working in a bar. In his investigation, KD learns that the murder was committed by a psycho serial killer. What challenges will KD face while searching for the killer? What is the killer motto behind the mass murders? How will KD catch the psycho? To know this, you need to watch the movie in a theater near you.
Performances: Adivi Sesh perfectly suited the role of a cool cop. His performance during intense scenes adds an original texture to the investigative scenes.
Meenakshi Chaudhary is mesmerizing on screen and her chemistry with Adivi Sesh is on decent display in the love scenes. His movement is good during the important processes of the second half.
Actor Maganti Srinath gets a meaty role and the actor has given a decent performance. Other artistes like Suhas, Rao Ramesh, Posani Krishna Murali, Kamalee Prasad did their best. Big actors like Tanikella Bharani among others are good in key cameos.
Technical features: The background score, composed by John Stewart Eduri, is outstanding. Especially the crime scene scenes are beautifully explored in the second half with a catchy score. The cinematography work is top notch as S Manikandan tries to deliver the entire film on a rich note.
On the other hand, two songs composed by MM Srilekha and Suresh Bobbili are valid on screen. Editing by Garry BH is good as he kept the duration within the limits by avoiding unwanted scenes.
Production values are good for this Nani's Wall Poster Cinema banner film. The set work is also quite good.
Analysis: Director Shailesh Kolanu's idea of creating a franchise for his 2020 film, HIT is good and it has come up with content that has scope to explore better than the first part. While Shailesh's execution is hugely engaging, he would have worked harder to write a solid screenplay.
The first half takes its sweet time to set up proceedings. If it had been taken care of during the scripting stage, the result would have been unanimous. To summarize, HIT 2 is a crime thriller with a straight to the point story. While the film has a few gaps, overall it will end up as an easy one-time watch.
Verdict: Watchable crime thriller!
Rating: 3/5
